We joined the crown princess for a 7 night cruise around France and Spain 6th May 2017.This ship is bigger than the Coral but seemed like coming back to see an old friend with all the quirks Princess have.
Our room as usual was very spacious with enough room for a wheelchair and I have to say this certainly is the largest balcony I have ever had on a standard wheelchair accessible balcony cabin!
Our first stop was at Guernsey which is a tender port, I can do tenders as I can transfer and step across but the weather wasn’t too great and it’s a long tender so we decided to stay aboard and explore the ship.
Our first feeling was that she didn’t flow as well as the Coral did and the swimming pools were harder to get too due to a wavy higher wall structure, part of the design for this class of ship. This was a little disappointing but nothing stops us and we found a way to get my into the pool.
The weather wasn’t on our side for this cruise so the bars were seen more than usual for some of our favourite past times people watching.
Our next stop was Bordeaux, there wasn’t too much to do in port and we didn’t have an excursion booked so we had a quick look around and then went back to ship to chill on balcony with a bottle of bubbly.
Next stop was Bilbao, we took the free shuttle into town and had a wander around the shops and a look at the famous museum Guggenheim, we were lucky with the weather today too. The shuttle was a bit of a shambles especially being in a wheelchair and at one stage we considered paying for a taxi back but eventually it was sorted and after some confusion over language barriers we were back to the ship.
Our last port stop was at La Coruña, again we did our own thing. Town is in wheeling distance with a lot of lovely shops and cafes, unfortunately most shops have a large step up so I did a lot of window shopping. Maybe an excursion would be better here so you can get to see more, the new mall was closed the day we were there which we found strange so cannot comment on that. Be on the lookout of the naked man!
Our last night we spoilt ourselves to the ultimate balcony dining which again was out of this world with a great butler!
We enjoyed the crown but she isn’t one of our favourites but again we have another one lined up on her for the future.
